Steve Grant - Functional Medicine Practitioner
How I Can Help You
Many of my clients come to me feeling frustrated by a particular health concern or a collection of health issues.
Their frustrations often stem from the lack of support provided to them by our healthcare system. This is particularly true with chronic health issues.
This often leaves my clients feeling confused and sometimes anxious about what they should do to improve their health.
Many of my clients are busy professionals looking to improve their health and address underlying conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and excessive body fat.
In addition, clients often have other complaints such as digestive issues, poor energy, recurrent illnesses and hormonal symptoms.
Often, our reductionist healthcare system looks to treat these individuals one symptom and health condition at a time, often with no regard to seeing the overall picture. Often, we rely upon acute medical treatments for chronic conditions.
Instead of trying to solve the problem, we drug the problem.
Whilst some medications can be necessary and beneficial, I see a need to integrate lifestyle medicine with this approach, so we can work on underlying physiological imbalances and behaviour patterns to help reduce reliance on medications, whilst improving both health and lifespan.
I have spent two decades helping thousands of clients achieve their health and performance goals, using an integrative and holistic model. I have developed systems that enable a full body transformation that is personalised and able to adapt to the individual nuances that we all have.
My Personal & Professional Journey
I wanted to take a moment to share my personal story, including how I came to be where I am today, the health challenges I’ve overcome, and why I am so passionate about my specialist areas.
At the age of 15, nearly 30 years ago, I discovered my fascination with the profound impact nutrition can have on health and human performance. What began as casual reading quickly turned into a passion. Before long, I was coaching sports and working in the fitness industry.
I pursued this interest further by studying Sports Science at university. I graduated with a first-class honours degree, which was a moment of immense pride for me. From there, I moved to London, where I continued my work in health and fitness while undertaking a three-year study in Nutritional Therapy.
For the next seven to eight years, I worked one-to-one with clients as both a personal trainer and a nutritional therapist. During this time, however, my own health began to decline. I experienced severe fatigue, a significant loss of libido, troubling digestive symptoms, mood changes, and a range of other issues.
Seeking answers, I turned to my GP, only to be told that everything was “normal” and that my symptoms were likely psychological. I knew something wasn’t right and felt frustrated and disheartened, an experience I now see echoed in many of my clients who feel similarly dismissed or unsupported.
Fortunately, I continued my education, which led me to attend a lecture at the Royal Society of Medicine about Functional Medicine. At the time, this approach was virtually unheard of in the UK, with only a small number of practitioners. Intrigued, I sought out the speaker for guidance.
Working with them was a transformative experience. Together, we uncovered the root causes of my health issues, which included two chronic bacterial infections in my gut, significantly reduced testosterone, and flatlining cortisol levels. For the first time, I had real answers.
Over six months, I worked with this practitioner and regained my health. I finally felt like the vibrant, energetic young adult I should have been. This experience inspired me to train as a Functional Medicine practitioner myself.
I started with mentorship under that practitioner and later advanced my education with two of the world’s leading Functional Medicine institutes. This often required me to travel to the United States, as online learning opportunities were not yet available at the time.
I became one of the first practitioners in the UK to incorporate Functional Medicine into clinical practice. Soon after, I established my own clinic in Marylebone, London. For more than a decade, I have worked with clients from this clinic, gradually integrating virtual sessions as well.
Throughout my career, I have specialised in lifestyle-based interventions to support a wide variety of health challenges. These have included digestive issues, fatigue, athletic performance, hormonal health, cardiometabolic health, body composition, and weight management.
In the past five years, I have placed a stronger focus on metabolic health. This includes the prevention and reversal of conditions such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and high blood pressure. These conditions are central to overall health and remain the leading causes of death worldwide.
It has become clear to me that traditional approaches often fall short. Chronic conditions like these are too frequently addressed reactively, rather than proactively. Yet we know they are largely driven by modifiable lifestyle factors, even when genetics, gender, and age play a role.
My personal connection to this area is significant. On my maternal side, there is a strong family history of type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Being genetically predisposed has made me deeply aware of the importance of managing my lifestyle and closely monitoring my health.
The empowering truth is that being genetically at risk does not have to be a life sentence. The daily choices we make have far greater influence on our health than our genes or age.
That is why my mission is to empower individuals to take charge of their health.
Media and Accomplishments
In 2015, I was honoured to receive the ‘Outstanding Practice’ Award from Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) magazine. This recognition highlighted the results I had achieved with my clients over the years, which was a deeply gratifying moment in my career. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working with thousands of clients, each with their own unique journeys and goals.
I have also been fortunate to work across multiple movie productions since 2012, supporting a large number of A-list actors, directors, producers, and stunt teams. This led me to establish ‘Fit For Films’, a company specialising in health and physique support for film industry professionals. You can even find me on IMDb if you fancy a nosey at some of the past productions I have worked on!
I also work with top athletes, ranging from MMA fighters to GB-level track and field competitors, footballers, cyclists, and more. Some of these athletes compete on the world stage. My role involves optimising their underlying physiology to enhance recovery and performance through a Functional Medicine approach. By using objective assessments and gathering subjective feedback, I guide athletes and their support teams to ensure training loads are appropriate. I also provide direction on their nutrition, training, and lifestyle habits to help them achieve peak performance.
Beyond one-to-one work, I’ve contributed to TV, print, and online media on topics related to health, performance, and nutrition. My insights have appeared in Men’s Health, The Telegraph, Women’s Health Magazine, Cosmopolitan, Evening Standard, Channel 4, and Red Bull, among others.

My Extended Team
I am incredibly fortunate to have built a fantastic team and a network of trusted contacts over the 20 years I have been practising. Together, we provide comprehensive support to help clients achieve their health goals.
At the heart of my business is my partner in life, Fay Grant. Fay is the driving force behind everything administrative, ensuring the smooth running of client management and operations. She also brings her creative talents to recipe development, crafting dishes that align with our clients’ health needs and goals.
In addition to Fay, I’ve established a team of associate practitioners whom I trust implicitly. These are professionals I confidently refer to when a client requires support outside my areas of expertise.
Our network spans a wide range of specialisms, including physiotherapists, osteopaths, nutrition and functional medicine practitioners, medical professionals, talking therapists, mindfulness practitioners, and coaches, among others. This collaborative approach ensures that each client receives the most tailored and effective care possible.

“I have been seriously impressed with Steve’s services. His detailed knowledge and advice on a wide range of issues has been outstanding. The results for me have been superb. Significant weight loss, much improved body composition, lower blood pressure, increased energy, less stressed and critically for a former cardiac patient reduced inflammation.”
Clayton
“I can’t say positively enough my gratitude and respect for working with Steve Grant. I came to know him during the preparation for the film “Unbroken” which he was responsible for our main cast being fit to portray their roles. I then had the good sense to ask him to help me personally get into shape last year which resulted to a 30 pound weight loss and vastly improved health & energy.”
Tony
“Steve has completely transformed my understanding of and relationship with my own well-being. I was weaker and less able to partake in sport, outdoor pursuits and didn’t think it would improve. Steve’s holistic approach has given me better focus, energy and optimism. I’ve gained in strength and state of mind. It’s been absolutely brilliant for me.”
