How to store Broad Beans

Keep the beans in their pods in the salad drawer of the fridge for up to 1 week.

How to prepare Broad Beans

Split open the pods along the seams and squeeze out the beans. For larger beans you can remove the outer skin after blanching, however it isn’t essential. You may find them slightly sweeter by double-podding.

How to cook

Blanch/Boil

Bring some water to the boil and add some salt. Once boiling add the broad beans in and cook for 2-3 minutes. Rinse with cold water to stop the cooking process.

Grill or BBQ

Keep the beans in their pods and pop under a grill on high heat or on the BBQ for around 6 minutes, turning every couple of minutes. Open one pod up first to check if they are cooked. Scatter with chilli or lemon juice.

Roast

Preheat oven to 220’C. Place some coconut oil in a roasting dish in the oven until the oil is liquid. Take out and pop in the broad beans in the pods and toss with the oil. Cook for 20-30 minutes.
