Generally planted around March for picking to start early June and can be harvested right into winter until the frosts appear. If you have a lot of spinach, why not blanch them and drain and freeze to use when you next need it.
How to store Spinach
Best to be stored within a plastic bag in the fridge and eaten within a couple of days (you will see it will wilt more and more each day).
How to prepare Spinach
Just take off any large or thick stalks and wash well.
How to cook Spinach
Raw
No need to cook. Use as you would salad leaves. They are great in salads and also your smoothies.
Fry
In a pan with a little oil season the spinach and cook on high heat for a few minutes until the leaves have wilted. Goes really nice with freshly chopped garlic and fresh lemon juice.
Stir fried
Add into a stir fry mixture at the end so they only need 2 minutes of cooking.
Blanch
Pop into boiling water for 2 minutes and then remove and rinse with cold water to stop the cooking process.
