Beef Jerky Recipe

Ingredients

  • 700g Lean beef, fat cut off and cut into thin slices
  • 1 tbsp ground onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 2 tsp mixed herbs

Directions

  • Mix all the herbs and salt together in a little pot.
  • Lay out your beef strips on a clean surface and sprinkle with half the herb mixture and beat the meat with a mallet. Flip the meat over and repeat this process.
  • Place the meat on a baking sheet and make sure it is all laid out so that nothing is touching. Place in the oven on its lowest temperature (usually 50’C).
  • Let the beef dry in the oven for up to 16 hours, turning over half way through. Different ovens may cook quicker than this so just keep an eye out for when it looks dry. You can open the door to check on them often as you like as it helps let the moisture out of the oven.
  • Store in an air tight container, it should keep for months.
