Apple Pear and Berry Crumble

One of our go to desserts as it’s easy to bash together. Try and use whatever seasonal fruit is around.

Ingredients

  • Fruit layer
    • 2 apples, peeled, cored & chopped
    • 2 pears, peeled, cored & chopped
    • 150g mixed frozen berries
    • 2 tbsp maple syrup
    • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
    • 1.2 tsp ground ginger
  • Crumble
    • 120g ground almonds
    • 40g desiccated coconut
    • 80g rolled oats
    • 50g coconut oil – room temp
    • 2 tbsp maple syrup
    • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 180°C.
  • Pop all fruit layer ingredients into a pan on medium heat and stir.
  • Bring to the boil, then turn down the heat and pop a lid on and simmer for 10 minutes until nicely stewed, giving it a stir every few minutes.
  • Pop the fruit layer into a small roasting dish.
  • To make the crumble pop all crumble ingredients into a bowl.
  • The coconut oil can be melted or room temperature, doesn’t really make a difference.
  • Mix everything together by hand using your fingers to mix and squish it all together.
  • Make sure it stays crumbly and not turn into a dough. If it’s too doughy, just add some more of a dry ingredient like ground almonds or oats.
  • Place the crumble on top of the fruit layer, covering it all.
  • Bake in the oven for 20 minutes, or until the crumble is nicely golden.
  • Remove from the oven and serve. Goes really well with cream or a custard.
